Great Expectations

ELACC.9-10.R.I.10 Range of Reading and Level of Text Complexity

iBooks and Apps (available on the iTunes Store):

  • Great Expectations
The entire text of the novel by Charles Dickens. Downloads are good on Kindle and as PDF. Free copies are also available on many free sites/apps for smart phones, tablets (like the iPhone and iPad) on iBooks as well as Google Play.
  • Great Expectations in serial form
Read Great Expectations the way that the people of Dickens's time did: in serial form. Each "issue" has maps, glossaries of the allusions in the text, and a guide to the historical conditions mentioned in each segment. Really cool. No, really.
